I'm wondering about this neck-thru. The owner claims it to be a Matty, but I find no other ID or serial number...

Honestly, I don't think so. We've seen these before and they are very close but I'm thinking Cort.
The contours of the body are not consistent with any other Mat that I know of.
I could be totally wrong but its my opinion.

Now, would I own/play this guitar? Absolutely. :jammin:

Ja, I've got it on my radar also. It's from the same guy I mentioned in my other recent thread, but like I mentioned there, I'm still recovering from the ES purchase and a new couch is DESPERATELY needed  .

It is purdy :D !

Cort was my first thought also, for two reasons:

1. The 3-piece neck construction doesn't look quite right. The walnut stripes on a Mats are usually quite thin and elegant looking. This one is too much "in your face".
2. The bridge doesn't look like Mats hardware. Too rectangular and clunky looking.

Still a nice piece of lumber though! :D

Matsumoku neck-thrus tend to be much finer in their detail, but gee; that sure is a beauty!

I would be interested to know if there is anything on the underside of the pickups. . .

Jorg, the eBay listing says,
Quote:
The pickups have serial numbers, but other than that no brand - they have a high output, much like DiMarzio Super Distortions.

If these "serial numbers" happen to be MMK45 well then...we have another interpretation eh?

Oh really? Maybe someone that speaks the language could ask?
I've seen Lotus and Hondo guitars with MMKs so I guess it is a possibility. . .

That's a Cort, or made in the same factory that some Corts were made. I've seen that same basic body design sold under several different names, including Cort. Some people think they were made in one of the Japanese factories, but I've seen no proof of that being the case.
