I'm looking at a Genesis II XA1630 thats dark blue or black and fades out to a grey? Pics are a little iffy but she appears to be in great shape.
I'm guessing these have a 45 in the bridge position? Thoughts?

Platinum blueburst, great guitar, buy it.

No; well, mine doesn't... and I don't think Barrys' does either. They have a Tom Presley designed pickuo that is well balanced and very clear; no MMK mud here!!

Buy it. :D

I'm on it. I'll let you know how it goes. :devil2:

That platinum blueburst is yummy!
It's a wonderfully comfortable guitar to play and as John says it does put out a tone quite unlike the 45's or any of the other usual Mats offerings. The unique tone shaper circuit is something quite different too and may take some getting used to.

Personally though, I'm finding it hard to dial in a sound that really turns my crank, and that's a pity. I've toyed with the idea of modding it somewhat but that would violate the spirit of the design so I've let it be. When I play it I just try to let it tell me what to do. You know, just like being married. :loon:

You can see a pic of my burgundy Genesis on my website if you're interested:

It's in the bottom row.

You know, I haven't had it out for a play lately so that's what I did...

... it needs to be be pushed a little to make the best of whatever it is that's in there; I generally run (clean) with a guitar volume wide open, through a volume pedal also pretty much wide open and into an amp set at medium gain and low volume but with the Genesis I had to wind up the gain a bit more and open up the amp volume to make me fizz at the bung...

YMMV, of course!

But, hell; it's SO darn comfortable to play on the shoulder and that neck is just sick as!!

Hopefully it will be done today and I should have it in a few days.
I wonder if the poplar body has anything to do with the need for gain? I've noticed my guitars with poplar have that same characteristic.
I jumped on the Westone site yesterday to look for pics and I saw Barry's. Very nice.
How do you guys like the single coils? I like to use the front pickup a lot and really hoping this guitar is as versatile as it looks to be.
I'm trading the Gretsch to get it. The Gretsch is nice but just not "fizz at the bung" nice.

The single coils are my favourite pups on this guitar. They have a really nice tone. But you may find that the rubber pads supporting them do not allow enough height adjustment. Most of us found we had to get them closer to the string pack for optimum output.

Did you see this long discussion thread on the Westone Forum about my Genesis and several other members' as well?
Lots of good info there. (You are a member right? Otherwise you cannot access it)

I did see that. You can't beat $75 with a stick and that is such a pretty guitar!
How did you get the singles higher, shim?
I've had a login to the Westone site for some time. I've tried to own one on several occasions.
Hopefully this will be the time. :D

Also, the serial on the one I'm looking at is about 500 away from yours.
