scored this beauty this morning at a fleamarket, paid 120 euro for it, the seller first was asking 175, but that was way to much considering the condition it was in, missing output and bakcplate, all potts were hanging loose, 1 knob missing, and you never know what else there is wrong with a half disassembeld guitar like this.
so i haggled it down to 120, for 175 you can find a good thunder I over here without any work on it if you'r lucky.
after some work and making a new backplate out of a old VHS box, this is the result.

after i put a new output in it i discovered all works, the original electronics are doing there work without any problems, the pickups sound really nice , bright and crispy on the bridge and warm and full on the neck, i'm happy with it, it has been a while when i bought a guitar for my own colection.
the fretwork is in excellent condition, but i needed to clean the fretboard, you could almost grow potoatoes on it that's how dirty it was.
mounted some gold teleknobs on it, these suit him to, but i will try to find a original knob for it.
the former owner most likely had sweaty hands due to the corrosion on the bridge.

Great resto wietse!
I'd love to get my hands on that bridge...want to swap me for a lovely barrel-saddle version?
I often wondered if the gold tele knobs would look OK on the Thunder and they do look pretty nice! Just a bit more shiny than we're used to.

Over in the Westone forum one of the members has found a source who will custom make replica Thunder brass knobs for reasonable $$$. You may find what you need in these threads:
