for what it's worth : this weekend I've seen a wreck with a very special neckplate .I couldn't buy it , unfortunatly, but the least I can do is share it...this is what's on it :
Steel
Reinforced
Neck
TeiscoGenGakki
0000174
made in Japan
and it was a SG copy(guitar)...transformed to a bass (with a hughe bass pu) in ,yack, metallic greeeeen...really slaughter work...
Especially that "TeiscoGenGakki" intrigues me...certainly since it's kinda Matt neckplate

Ivan ... that sounds almost like a Pepsi bottle with a Coke label :loon: or a Fender Les Paul!

Yeah I know , but this was real !!!Couldn't believe my eyes but there it was .
The SG body back had a "boomerang"-like cavity cover and the neck half-circular at the topside instead of dot indications.
pfff...darn...I even hadn't a camera to take a pic...

Héhé..;here she is ! This is the neckplate I was talking about ...Pepsi in a Cola bottle;..no way !
I was pretty sure about the neckplate ...but I've to admit that there's something strange :
first the thinness of the neckplate , second the "STELL " instead of STEEL ,and thirth the double K at the end of TEISCOGENGAKKIKK...
What do you think about this one ??????Who would make the effort to make such a neckplate ( and even chromed it ??)

Looks to me like a Teisco product. Nothing to do with Matsumoku, besides the (sloppy) copying of the 'Steel adjustable neck'-text.
'Gen Gakki' is a general term, means something like '(factory of) musical instruments'. The 'KK' seems to have a bit of spacing on 'GAKKI', could be short for a city or province name ...

Very strange , I have a few Teisco's and not one them has a steel plate like that . Neckplates are usually blank on Teisco's . Usually they have a a gold and black sticker that say's "Steel Reinforced Neck" as well as a plate below the neck plate that has model no , serial no , and Japan written on it , this calls for more research ,it could be someones practice attempt at stamping . But the Teisco name on the steel neck plate doesnt happen at least I've never seen it before , combined with a simple spelling mistake "stell" :-? :dunno:
Thanks for bringing this to the class
Is it Matt - don't think so

The neck plate shape is pretty typical for Teisco's.
