The live broadcast of the local Dutch X-Factor competition had an international intermezzo today: Macy Gray. She herself looked liked she visited one Amsterdam coffee shop too many (sounded very good though), but the thing that really caught my attention was her bass player. He was playing a bass that (to my moderately experienced eye) looked a lot like a Westone Thunder I.
If anyone posts a stream of it on youtube, I'll post it here. (Won't be long 'till the record company will have it taken down, considering the state Macy was in while performing :P ) But still; our Vintage models seem to find their way back to international stages.)

Frustrating swooping camera shoots eh?
That makes it hard enough to concentrate, but that dancer in the pink dress...!!! :hyper: Had to run the clip a few times to remember what it was I was supposed to be looking at...

Oh yeah, the bass...looks like a Westie, at least in the nano second that you can make out the headstock. There's another split second look if you freeze it at 48 seconds. You can see pretty much the whole body. The bass, not the dancer's. Unfortunately it's fuzzy but the general shape looks like a Spectrum. But is that a "trapeze" tail on that that thing or a shadow????

Glad I wasn't the only one. Those Westones are quite shapely. . . :devil2:

Well, to me, there's no doubt. I don't know Westones well enough to give a model number but, she be Westone.

I'm pretty sure it is a Westone two-knob single P-element bass guitar, since I saw the show live on my rather large LCD tv. There might be some better quality footage available on youtube by now. John, the reason she sounds awesome, in spite of her obvious state, is in the connections within the brain ... with this woman music comes before anything. Drugs and booze affect your physical ability to play an instrument, but performing and voice will only be affected after long-term abuse (as Whitney Houston found out). Let's say (and hope, for her sake) Macy just had an incidental wild night in Amsterdam ...

And I DID notice the dancer in the pink dress, she's a member of the steady crew, and she's doing a great job distracting attention from the flaws candidates make
