My bro is looking at a greco bass... I am 99% sure its a mats.... It looks like everything is pretty much identical to my conrad, like the trapezoid pickups, wood riser for the bridge, top hat nobs....etc.

Any ideas?

Oh its a late 60s bass...

Matsumoku made the early Fender and Gibson replicas for Greco. '60s or early '70s are almost certainly Matsumoku. Only later did Greco switch all their production to FujiGen.

Tough to safely assume that a Greco viola bass is Matsumoku. I don't know when Matsumoku started putting their name on the neck plate but if that only says "Made in Japan" some would say it's safe to assume that it is FujiGen. It would be interesting to compare hardware of a confirmed early Greco "Beatle" bass from FujiGen.

...either way you can't lose!
