My dad found this at a local car boot sale on Sunday -

She's in a bit of a state; loads of fretwear and what appears to be some repositioning of the pots (!), the heel strap button has been replaced with the cheapest thing I've ever seen and she's missing some pickup springs and the switch tip... But what do you want for £12..?

I've given her a quick clean and restring and reckon she'll be a keeper as I have a great repair guy who has "gigged worse" and reckons she's not too far gone.

These are the 'before' pics, I'll try to post some of the 'during' pics I have on my phone but the 'after' pics may take a while as she's not a priority right now...

Nice catch. I look forward to seeing her come back. All in all it looks like some fairly easy fixes.

But the poor baby has been violated for sure eh?

Dunno what the dude was thinking by moving the pot further away; it doesn't make access any easier. Bad enough but then to leave the hole there?!
Photobucket is having a temper tantrum right now, so I can't access the full picture album. I'll be interested to see the extent of the condition.

These are great little players, and she can be restored!

Definitely looks, feels and sounds promising.

I reckon she'll be well worth handing over to my repair guy and having him work his magic; refret, rewire, re-whatever. Just not this month...

I do that with all my Strats (Fender included), can't play 'em 'til I do.

Nice catch, I'd have grabbed it for sure.

This would be a nice guitar to try learning how to do your own work. Makes buying more guitars more affordable.

It did occur to me that this might be an opportunity to dig out the spares box and toolkit, but I just don't have the time, space or confidence in my abilities right now.

What I do have is a friend who will tear her apart, clean her up and rebuild her. He'll charge me a fraction of what the local shops would and make a much better job of it.

Wow, hadn't realised that it'd been so long since I visited, never mind posted..!

Anyway, here's the 'finished article', as shown in the pics I took with the intention of Flea-bay'ing it...





I've had very little interest, other than a couple low-ball offers, so I suppose I'll just have to keep her, eh...

Might need to acquire some more appropriate knobs, as 2 of the originals were damaged beyond repair and I've had to use some parts box generics.
