I wonder if the threaded rod and nut on the inside of the WJ300 is the bolt on neck or a truss rod. I hope it's a truss rod end, but I'd hate to loosen it and detach the neck.

Pretty sure that bold necks did not use hex keys so if a hex key fits it should be a truss rod. Also, almost all of the bolt neck systems on acoustics used two bolts.

Yep, if there were 2 bolts, I'd have known. If the bolt had a hex end, I'd have known. Given what the hole the bolt is seated against, I doubt it is a truss rod. Why isn't there a washer? That must be a corner being cut. I'm 90% sure this holds the neck to the body. Perhaps there's a pin we can't see instead of a second bolt?

Hmm, a strange one, if I'm reading the image correctly.
Looks to be more of an anchor/stabilizer than a point of attachment, perhaps to stop the neck from pivoting out of alignment? Would make sense assuming there are 2 main attachment bolts somewhere.

Buggered if I know where the other end is though. Is there a neck plate?

If only I could. I can't get the phone further back to get more in the picture.

What you see is the neck block from the inside. At the bottom you can see the center back brace. At the top, is the inside of the guitar top. They must have used a forstner bit to recess the hole the nut is seated on and then drilled the hole the bolt goes through. The bolt is closer to the fretboard.

It's strange there is no washer under the nut. I hate to turn the nut just to see how much tension is on it.

Why isn't the nut centered in the hole? Perhaps to get the neck on right.

I wonder if the neck joint has a dowel instead of a second neck bolt?

Could it be some type of repair?

Is the neck bowed concave? Meaning to tighten the truss rod? Carefully turning the nut clockwise (tighten) would answer the question, I do believe. It certainly looks like it is in the right location for a truss rod.
