The important thing is not the break angle but the downward pressure on the strings. I have stop-tail guitars with just as much string transmission and sustain as the CS models I have. That extra bit of string through the body has little impact on the CS string transmission and sustain.

Once the proper tension is applied to the strings (i.e. tuned) there is little difference.

A Bigsby with an ABR-1 bridge is a recipe for premature string and saddle wear. I've only had one and it was nothing but trouble from the start. String popping on the wound strings and premature breakage on the plain strings. That and over time it cut deep grooves in the saddles. Never again.

Yeah, I've never understood that combination. Most of the Japanese made Bigsby equipped Gretch's we sold back in the day had roller saddles but many of the Korean entry models did not.

Never mind premature saddle wear, they, as well as many other assorted LP's, etc., gave me the willies as I watched the entire ABR-1 bridge rock back and forth! Those screw anchors were majestically ripping a new one in the soundboard. :eek3:

Supremely dumb idea.

I know we've all struggled at some point with "design flaws" in Uncle Mat bridges but, it seems to have been a trend across a lot of brands.
Perhaps, in the design process, discussions arose about what could and/or could not be done and the phrase, "hold my beer" was invoked. . .

Some years back I snagged what was left of a CS-350. There was a split in the body and the neck pocket had gone soft on the edges. All I got was the body and neck so a new bridge was in order for the build. I used a Schaller flush mount bridge after filling the string-through holes and rout for the old bridge. It still had the same sustain as my other CS-350s even though it was no longer string through.

Great stuff!

I did a "Butter Cream" finish on my Urchin U60T resto.
I was originally thinking of something more like yours or a TV yellow but I think the lighter shade I ended up suiting the guitar well, even though in daylight it reads more like an off white:

I was going to search my garage for a couple of those Schaller bridges to see if they might work on a CS. I think the packaging might have included a plate to raise their height- not sure if it would be enough for the original rout.

Back to the OP's question, I think most of us have had guitars with different bridges, woods, frets, nuts, whatever that just worked well together and made a guitar we liked.
