Recently I snagged and Ashland by Crafter PRS style guitar only to find out the scale is 25" (measured at the 12th fret) but the moron that set the bridge set it for 25-1/2". Intonation was impossible with the worthless ABR1 bridge. The only bridges I could find with a lot of saddle travel were the Schaller roller and the Golden Age roller bridges. Problem is the stud post anchors are M8 and both these bridges have M5 posts. I could fill and drill but it would not be easy as I no longer have a drill press.

The solution I came up with was installing M8 male M5 female inserts (think Helicoil). It worked like a charm. This will work with any M8 post guitar for both the Schaller and the Golden age or other bridges that have M5 posts. Cost about $12 for 10 inserts. The intonation is closer but the D and high E strings are a little flat. Better than throwing the guitar away. The fit was perfect. The inserts are stainless and the machining is spot on.

Good save. Luckily, every time I've had to swap bridges I've been able to re-use the old posts.
