Right-o, troops, here we are with possibly THE most idiotic question you're gonna get this year; are the little saddle wheels on a Bendmaster trem supposed to rotate?
I know; I'm an idiot but I don't want to force something that ain't supposed to be moved!!

Sure, they can rotate.

Yep, they should rotate all day long. Back and forth.

I wish all my guitars with tremolo had roller saddles to help stay in tune
after dive bombing. Strings don't get stuck there.

When they stop turning, then worry.

thanks, guys! now I'll rip into them with a gas-axe and sledgehammer! I'll get 'em moving :D How freely should they roll; ie turn with fingers or with pliers - (rubber jawed, of course!)?

The Bendmaster Deluxe saddles were NOT designed to rotate about the axle; I eventually took one right to bits and drilled out the roller saddles to allow them to rotate and so far it seems to work admirably. The only question is will there be any undue wear on any of the parts that are in contact and moving when originally they didn't.

... far too lazy to c+p links from the 'bucket to here, so fill yer boots!!

Tom Presley was something of a maverick crossed with an evil genius; I'm told this was designed to get around the FR patents and he reckons that he probably handwired the humbucking pickup on this pre-production Genesis II with his very own hands; I am just a little star struck by this, and suitably bemused by the fact that I picked it up in a pawnshop in Christchurch, NZ IN 2006.
