The Westone Spectrum FX had Magnaflux II's - (probably MMK45's) ...

... - which had the blade type of thing and I'm quite sure some of the APII's did too... :D

Welcome back; doncha hate it pooters tank - I lost a Vantage 696-12 because both of mine went tits-up at the same, quite crucial, time!! :x :(

Are the specs the same a the "regular" MMK45's ? Also, did they come in different pole spacings, like normal, and f-tyoe..or just standard (2") spacing?
Calling DerOnkel...where's he when you need him? :D

Additional MMK info: Was busy cleaning and restringing an '84 Westone Thunder II tonight, pups are MMK 53 in both positions, and named "Super Twin 1" in an '83-'84 catalog. Older catalogs refer to them as "HF530" for the Thunder II, and "HF450" for the Thunder I, which has indeed MMK 45's.

Maybe someone has some time to make a data sheet with which types can be found in which guitars, along with the tech specs? Interesting topic anyway so far!

I like the Vantage system!!! HF530 for MMK53's....HF450's for MMK45's and I am going ot on a limb here but I reckon if they made HS610's they would be MMK61's.
Looking at Corsairs vantage catalog they note the pickups as #450PF or #610PF.....again a direct reference to MMK45's and 61's. Are they the same as the MMK's in the Arias? I am guessing yes

Hi guys...I'm back, after a long break (due to a computer crash). I used to go by "skylark44", so I'm glad to be back..finally :)
I've got a pickup marked MMK 45, on the back (stamped letters, with the numbers in INK), BUT..mine has one coil with hex-head polepieces, AND the other coil has a BAR polepiece! :loon:
:loon: What's up with that  I know it's supposed to be a MMK 45, but is it some oddball later model (or earlier one)? It's got 2" pole spacing (on the pole piece coil), and should clock in at 11.8k,(I haven't checked yet)so I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Norm

I think Corsair is correct with the westone UBC pickup. Each coil in the UBC was a different resistance (unbalanced coils) and reportedly used different magnets. The construction of these MMK-45's is definitely way different to the std Aria MMK-45's.

If they are split coils, the resistance of each coil would definitely help identifying the UBC's from the std MMK-45s. Can you access a multimeter?

I've got a MMK45/UBC pickup, and am curious how the wires go..there's 4 : RED ,WHITE, GREEN, and a BARE(ground) wire.
Any idea ?
Thanx,
Norm

Green and bare to ground or phase.
Red to split(Read-ground over a switch).
White is "main" signal.

Cool, Thanx Racing. :) Any idea which coil will be cut, when grounded? (polepice, or "bar" side)

Nope, not from the top of my head.(Middle of the night here..at home)
Sorry.

In general though the 45s sound at least decent when split.
What i think the factory should have done when it comes to phase though is connect ála Seymour Duncan specs.
Tried that on my remaining 795,and that turn the neck pup to instant P90s-ville.
Just like it does with an SH-2 jazz in the same position.

Btw.
If you have phase, the green and bare goes to individual poles on the switch.
If not, just twist em together and solder them to common ground at back of pot.
