I was wanting to determine the radius on one of my guitars recently, but I don't have any gauges. I know I could do the old pins in a stick trick to describe a series of arcs, but couldn't be bothered. And it sounded like work!
So I was looking about for alternatives--cheap alternatives.

I found this handy template which you might find useful. You can make up a couple of your own gauges which contain 8 different radii. Much easier to store for future use:

Good find. Much better than spending $23US plus shipping for the ones from Stewmac. Thanks!

Maybe, but for only $2 more you can get these, which are quite useful:

Yeah, those are definitely the set to get, and I would, except I can't justify the cost based on the number of times I'd need 'em.
That, plus, as always, that d@%^m shipping cost which almost equals the cost of the item!

And....I'm a cheap bastard.

There is no reason you couldn't use the file Barry found to make the same thing. Just cut the carboard so the top edge is the bottom. Put a little handle on and onec again cheap cheap cheap. I too am a cheap bastard.

Yep, and you could also just use the radius gauge on top of the strings...but, they're still quite useful.

I'll be printing these & laminating them asap.

je, also a cheap bastid
