Today, I got my fourth Vantage bass that's equipped with a 3-point bridge (X88B, VP700B, VP710B and now a VS600B). They suck. All four bridges are bend close to the point of breaking, and releasing the string as a result. I've been looking for a suitable replacement bridge for quite some time now, and it seems the Epiphone EBO/EB3 bridge fits the bill.
Now, I got a few questions for you guys:
- has any of you executed this replacement before?
- does it require additional routing?
- can I use the existing sleeves (same size and position)?
- where's the best place to buy them? (preferably in Europe)

Thanks for your input!
Kees.

Well, I replaced the bridge on my VS600B with what I THINK is an Epi bridge (bought used, via E-Bay). No routing, used the Vantage saddles. Big improvement. Still needs some filing/tweaking for individual string height, but pretty much plug'n'play.

Thanks Squid. I tried to grab (a used) one from the Bay, too, last night, but someone beat me to it. Darn things are expensive over here: 79 Euros (some U$110) ... and then some for shipping.

Have you looked at Gotoh bridges, or are you looking specifically at Epiphone?

If the guitar is worth it, the Hipshot options are very nice (might not work if there's a routed recess).

I did look at the Hipshot models, but they are pretty pricy, and there's the routed recess. Didn't know about Gotoh ... do they have a similar three point model?

I could be wrong, but I thought this was a Gotoh:

On the AllParts UK site it says "made by Allparts". Price there is 60,01 Pound Sterling plus 17 Pounds(!) for shipping, so 121 U$ :banghead:

So if someone here got it, what would shipping and customs add to it?

From the USA? I'd have to look into the shipping. Customs fees is 19% of purchase price + shipping costs, and an additional fixed fee for administration costs :(
