I had been looking for a headless guitar as a travel guitar to take away with me wherever I worked and in June 1984 I got a call from Allbang & Strumit in London to say they might have something for me - it was a Washburn headless guitar that the shop guy said had been a demonstration model left with him by the Washburn rep. It fitted the bill and I bought the guitar 84032 which I have had ever since and it's small enough to go in the overhead bins in planes and it's travelled with me to numerous countries and many offshore platforms. I have never seen another like it for sale in the UK and I don't think they were officially distrubuted here - I know they were sold for a couple of years in the USA. In the 1984 Washburn catalogue & price list it was listed as model G-64 but in the "Early" 80's general catalogue as the WB-64 (the guitar shown in this catalogue was identical to mine with 2 push switches - I could not see the details clearly enough to see this detail in the 84 catalogue) so I believe it's a WB-64. Through all my travels I have managed to wear out the original Washburn soft bag so I had a leather one made to a similar design which really looks the part.....
Does anyone have any other info on these guitars?
