Hey, I figured you guys might like to see this. I just picked it up off Ebay. I've never seen a set-neck, flame-top Washburn V before, and I just HAD to have it.

It's in ridiculously nice condition, and sounds unbelievably good. The neck is very Les Paulish, and so is the weight. It's probably around 8 pounds.
I had to replace the nut, as the string spacing was off.

Does anyone know how to date these things? The serial number is 834392, so I'm guessing 1983. It's definitely not an '88, this thing is all Uncle Mat.

I too don't know nuthin' 'bout Washburns.
Neither do I care much for flying vees...but I have to say this is very appealing!

I think I might be tempted to buy it too. Congrats!

Can you post a photo of the serial number? I think if it is stamped into the headstock (not printed) that is a fairly good sign it's a Matsumoku.

Alas, mine is long gone. I sold it.

I believe with 95% certainty that it was indeed a Matsumoku built guitar. There were just too many similarities in construction techniques, hardware, etc. for it not to be.

LCordine, yours is fantastic. I prefer hardtail to a trem any day.

I would wager that the string thru trem has better sustain though. You can always hard tail it if you don't want to go diving!

mine has no serial number, the strings through the body absolutley was better sustain than a tremolo. I am sorry to hear you sold yours, I hope you did well!!!!
