As much as i despise "racer" axes i just bought a HM-5 to a very affordable price.
If i´ve understood it correctly it is an Uncle Mat.

What can be said if anything by you guys?

Friend had one a short while back.
It honestly was a POS.
Neck hade been replaced and bridge swapped for a floyd.
Thought i´d give this one a try tho as it seems completely stock and in rather nice condition, and at a going rate of 145 euros it aint the end of the world.
Black to the colour btw.

I'm still not sure with these kinds of designs ... was a designer misled by fashion, or did one of the factory workers just have a secret bottle (or two, or three) of sake under the bench? Either way, one of them managed to get the thing into production
Not my thing. Maybe it'll come to me in time :D

Ahh - I was looking in the specs dept!! Doesn't look to be anything known about it; you will have to do the documentation!! Looks uber-cool, though - Kees is just a bit of an old woman; I love it!! :D

Will do.
I´ll be happy to document it as well as "put it up against" my notions of the other Uncle Mats i´ve been in contact with which are all basicaly earlier models.

Kees,we´re in agreement.
Sometimes though it might be an idea to challenge oneself i guess.,but granted that "racer" axes from the mid 80s up ain´t my cup a tea either.
Like i wrote above a friend mine had one a little while back.
If nothing else it was extremely light, but that particular one had been through some ordeals-or must have been.
Hence why i think it would be "unfair" to the instrument series to rate them based on that particular axe,and hence why i thought i could try one out.

Then again Kees...that thing up there and some spandex and we´re in business
Playing Rod Stewarts "Da ya think i´m sexy..."

Ewww; I was warned about guys like you when I was a wee tacker... :D

That looks to be a primo bit of kit, though and NOT a BC Rich ripoff design!! Uncle could rock with the best of 'em!! :D

Mere thought is a bit kinky isn´t it?
Instant Van Halen...kinda..

Nah.
On a more serious note,i don´t expect it to be of masterpiece standards but still look forward to checking one of these out for what it is.
Further,as you can see in the pic,the axe as well as the hardcase looks to be in rather nice condition....so no harm no foul.

Altho peanut money i can´t foresee how it can make me lose anything at the price paid.
Ergo,if it turns out that i think it sucks to the bone i´ll just give it a fret and neck job asf and put it up for sale again.
Ain´t the end of the world, and if nothing else we at that point at least have some sort of good to go reference for the board.

... I wouldn't want to be caught dead in spandex :barf:
But I see your point. You can't really go wrong on this one, and it will be nice to see your 'report'! :)
