Just picked this up yesterday and was told it was made in Japan but I can't seem to find any documentation.

Supposedly a Pro II TA-61 90S.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The S at the beginning of the serial number indicates it was made by Samick in Korea.

Really fun guitar either way especially for the price!

I agree. I have a 1996 TA-60 (335 style, no varitone) and its one of my favourites.

Of course, I changed out the 'buckers for P90's, so that helps too!
Congrats!

That reminds me a lot of my Ibanez AS-80! I really liked that guitar. The sound samples are gone for now, they were Flash. I'll fix that one day.

That's a beauty, I like that. I'm a sucker for semi-hollow and hollow F-hole guitars. :freaksmile2:

This is my first hollow body but I am loving it. I'm kind of an intermediate strummer so it's hard for me to get too detailed on differentiating between tones of this pickup or that but I dig the versatility of this thing compared to my solid bodies.

One thing is it is a little hard for me to believe the guy at the shop didn't know this was MIK when he seemed to know everything else about the guitar and I got the info pretty easily. He sold me on the made in Japan aspect. I may not have bought it otherwise even though I'm glad I did. $450 w/ custom hard case. Good deal? Should I politely call this guy out by letting him know the deets?

Also I'm considering replacing the pick guard since this one is missing. Thoughts? Not a big fan of the clear one that came stock but might be a nice way to complete the piece otherwise I can just put a couple screws in the holes and call it a day. Thanks guys!
