Great looking guitar! The top looks flamed out kinda like a couple of penco 335's i was looking at recently. I'm a sucker for flame tops i guess. No shame in this game!!

Crusty has mentioned previously that some of these earlier 335 styles had neck pocket issues, not sure if this falls in that category. Looks lika a set/bolt hybrid neck joint.

Comes with a sweet looking case as well!

If I understand correctly, this is actually a set neck. The screws are for "added support" if you will.
I'm pretty sure this guitar is of much better construction that what Crusty was talking about.
I dig that as well. . . :rockwoot:

Look at the 5502/5520 on this page. Look familiar?

I also have a strange feeling the bridge and pickups are not original. . . :D

The mounting screws on the bridge hint to 80s or later, so I would also think it's a replacement.

I'm not sure about the pickups, not all guitars in the 70s had quirky looking pickup covers. :)

I was thinking the pickups look too new and shiny chrome. I would think the originals would look worn gold like the tail.
If that were mine, I'd find a relic'd gold bridge and pickups. Or possibly open pickups.

Josh, I see you've not picked it up yet. . . :devil2:

It probably is bolt neck but bolt like my PE-450 where the tongue of the neck goes all the way into the neck pickup pocket. Did you notice it has a 3-piece neck?

Going on the fact there is zero evidence of a floating bridge you would find on the earlier full hollows it is probably Semi (bridge also indicates this) so you won't see the neck pocket warp that you do on full hollows.

I'm sorry but I really hate the word relic. I recently bought a Switch Vibracell that the owner sanded ALL the black anodizing off of the bridge plate down to the copper plating underneath. When I told him I'd have to address the damage to the bridge he told me it was relic'd and aged. It is once again black. I've seen too many sweet guitars ruined to look "aged". :bawl:

Rather than replacing the older/chrome parts with worn parts I'd probably replace the original worn parts with new ones. Tailpiece is easy. They now make semi-closed tuners that are a direct drop-in for the covered gear tuners with a 15:1 ratio compared to the original 12:1 and also with adjustable tension buttons.

Don't be sorry, it was quite difficult for me to type it myself. I am very quick to pass on a guitar when I see the term.
A better description would be to find a naturally worn bridge. :D
As it is, the mismatch of new chrome, new gold and old gold is distracting to me. The guitar itself is beautiful, I would just prefer the hardware to be consistent.
Seeing as the original pickups are already gone, I wouldn't have an issue with replacing everything.
If I hadn't picked up a really nice Gretsch last year, I'd seriously consider this.

I keep waiting for Josh to tell us he got it. :rockwoot:

Oh, man..... if i didn't already have all my 335-style wants and desires fulfilled (vsh- 455, electra x-410, gibson 325) for the moment i would have already snatched this beauty! $500 for a high quality 335 w/ nice case is a good deal IMO.

And i'm with you on the hardware, mismatched wares would cause an ocd flare up! :o
I hope this guit goes to a very cool person.
