Anyone know anything about an LW17 acoustic? I've not been able to find anything about them, guessing probably post Mat?

Looks like circa 1986.
The 17 model is not listed but have a look here: https://web.archive.org/web/20090307231806/http://www.ariaguitars.com/int/00int_main/archives_acgtr01.html

That's way more info than I had but how'd you arrive at '86? Did I miss something?
Anyway, there is one for sale at GC and I'm thinking about picking it up.

Sounds good to moi.
Coincidentally I just arranged to pick up a 15 year old Ovation Celebrity CC28 in Ruby Red for CAD$120.

Why so cheap? Thanks for asking. Why the bridge is lifting of course!
These would normally sell around the US$350-400 mark, if you can find them.

I love my 2 current (US made) Ovations, but this will be my first Chinese build so I'm not expecting miracles.
But Daddy has a nice little project to keep him off the streets which is the important thing.

if there's interest, sure.

My current shallow bowl Ovations are great stage guitars going through the PA, but kinda pissy acoustically so they tend to get a bad rap from a lot of acoustic players.

They are quirky little buggers on many counts but the bridge is especially odd. It does not follow the traditional acoustic pin design. It's more like a classical install, glued to the top, and no bridge plate. Unfortunately they glue the darn thing to the finish! Then they add 2 bolts to anchor it through the sound board!

When they let go it can be messy. All by way of saying this probably won't be a quick fix.

(Apologies for hijacking the thread Chris.)

No worries. I owned a really nice shallow bowl Ovation 20 yrs ago but, as you said, acoustically it just sounded. . .
Actually looking at Taylors now and not sure I want to get the Aria. The Aria is super affordable but its not electric nor is it a cutaway. And, its a dreadnought. I'm leaning toward a grand auditorium.
I found a really nice used 414ce that looks like its never been played but I don't want to spend $1300.

You can't go too wrong with a Taylor.
We sold a lot of 'em back in the day. Lots of models to choose from and the 414ce is a classic design.

They have a beautiful sound with or without amplification and for awhile there everyone seemed to be playing or endorsing Taylor.
But Taylor I think caused their own problems by enforcing minimum inventories on their dealers. For us as a small shop there was just no way in hell we could carry $100,000 worth of one brand of guitar!! We replaced them with Breedlove and continued with Martin and Godin.

In recent years Takamine seems to have taken over that preference. Seem to be quite a few around second hand.
My band mate had one and it sounded really good, even when teamed up with my Ovation. Nice blend.
