Looks like a standard model with some sloppy modifications? Neck pickup replaced and oddly Ovation tuners. I'm not completely convinced it is a Westbury. HS shape and truss are off. Body routs are a tad deep.

I really, really, REALLY hate the word "prototype" if it doesn't refer to a PE model.

I can't help it. Over the years I've seen some pretty outlandish claims and obvious mis-identifications. I apologize if I seem overly critical but experience has taught me to be leery and research, research, research.

I can't count how many times I've seen a guitar listed as a "prototype" simply because the seller didn't know the make or model. I've had two Westbury Standards and a Westbury Custom. I'm pretty sure this is not a Westbury.

$500 is not a fortune but it's not chump change either. In particular when the listing is in question. Keep in mind this is also Guitar Center so NO work has been done to bring this guitar into condition (the cockeyed neck pickup is evidence). No way I want anyone to get taken. Little infuriates me more. That was half the reason for this site. If it were a real Westbury $500 is in the ball park going on today's prices for one in good to excellent condition. This guitar has seen some misfortune in it's life.

Here are the differences: The concave rout around the body's top edge is much deeper than a Westbury. Body shape is different. The heastock shape is not the same as a Wesbury (or truss cover). The horns aren't as pointy as the Westbury. Controls configuration is different. Standard - 2V 2T 3-way, Custom - 2V 2T 3-way + Varitone, Performer - 1V 1T 3-way.

Think you're right Neal. The real Westbury has much more elegant lines.
