They dropped the price on this. If it were mint I would have bought it as I have one already and I love it.
Is it worth 695 + 65 shipping? Maybe. I bought mine for 600 (ex. shipping and tax) from GC and it's in better
cosmetic shape but the pickups, knobs and strap buttons are not original and did not come with a case.

Very well made and I would not sell mine, it's get played daily.

Oh, that's a beauty!
I have never seen the F-hole version locally but I do have the oddball "Entertainar" which is a favourite of mine.

It has an unusual construction with a solid slab body and a flame maple top. Why is that unusual?
Because the top is arched which can be seen when you remove the pups. If you tap on it you can hear the a hollow chamber underneath!. :look:

It does something wonderfully funky to the tone. :D

I'm not sure but I'm willing to bet mine is similar. The F "holes" are only for show. They're about 3/4 inch deep.
I know my Global LP copy from '79 is built that way. Well, its not a slab body, its plywood.
But it does have an arched top with hollow chamber.

Interesting designs on this line. I wonder why they didn't pursue it?
Too expensive to make perchance? :dunno:

Barry, is your Entertainar a maple or ash top? From the 1983 spec sheet it could also be a birch top.

http://www.matsumoku.org/cm_models/2021 ... ec-sheets/

Also, is there a model number on your Entertainar?

I did not know that the non f-hole model tops were arched.
Interesting!

This a 1982 model.
Looks like maple to me:

As far as we have determined (thanks to forum member Mozart) there was no model number assigned to this version. It appears to have been released as Entertainar (with the spelling mistake) then quickly corrected. "Specifications subject to change without notice"

Maple indeed Barry!

Now there's a 545 on Reverb
https://reverb.com/item/66538342-killer ... ships-fast
The serial # starts with 3 so I guess it's an '83 and not an '82.

The neck is a bolt on with chrome hardware however this document says that the 545 has a set neck with gold hardware.
Also, looking at this 545 it looks more like the hardware is chrome and not gold.
http://www.matsumoku.org/cm_models/2021 ... er-series/

Is the document incorrect or am I missing something?

I have that exact guitar. Bolt neck with chrome hardware. Absolute BEAST!

DANG! I just noticed what they're asking for it. I rescued mine from GC on August 15, 2017 for the princely sum of $224.99.
It was listed as "great" condition but didn't work. I had to resolder a few joints and replace the 3 way toggle. Its also missing the truss rod cover but its by far one of my favorite guitars. My wife hates when I pick it up because I still tell her how nice the neck is. I kid you not, it is the FINEST neck I have EVER played. Ever...

I'd be tempted to pick up another but this one is out of my price range.

"Specifications subject to change without notice" --Matsumoku
And they weren't kidding!

It was not unusual to see a particular model undergo changes, some of them drastic.
Mats was an innovative company as seen especially in the Westone line, which was their own house brand.

On occasion, it was not unusual either to see design elements "spillover" from one brand to another.
By the time the catalogues were printed the guitar in question may have already deviated from the "specs" in construction, electronics, hardware, or finish.

Never boring eh?
