You just made me have a think about my own collection Crusty.
I have, not counting acoustics:
  • Gibson ES330
  • an APII TA-60 (ES 335 style)
  • an Epi LP Studio
  • another Epi LP SL (Melody Maker)
  • two Danelectro's

The Dano's are mostly decorative and would not really be needed because the finish is thick and you could argue that the TA-60 doesn't really need a pick guard either. The others are required because of matte finish (or nitro).

Mostly everything else is a solid body, or full scratch guard with electronics mounted on it, or an acoustic.

Talking about pick guards. I bought a VSH-455 awhile back that a pick guard with someones name on it .
Guitar is really clean. I wonder if it was given as a gift and the owner stored it in a closet for 40 years.

I found a pic somewhere online of a 470 with the exact pickguard as the one in question.
I like having the option but generally I prefer no pickguard.

EDIT - Found it on Reverb.
