I feel your pain...but with one minor change. Yes FR trems are annoying to set up, no argument there. But I found that even more frustrating were the FR knock-offs (or even the "licensed by" models).
They drove me nuts more often than not, and I think the main problem was with fit and finish and steel hardness which resulted in the bridge
blades losing their edge over time as they pivoted on the posts. That resulted in sloppy action and an inability to return to the neutral setting.
I've mentioned Music Man's trem bridge design before and I have to say it again, they are bloody fantastic! A breeze to set up and they don't go out of tune. Quality steel and close tolerances make all the difference, and without needing a large ugly footprint either.
