I just realized there are 7 PEs at the GC in South Miami. The 3 I've been somewhat watching are B&G models.
There are a few differences between the 3 but all appear to be legit B&G.
This one is an '84 but to me the knobs are "wrong". . . https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Aria/ ... -Guitar.gc
This is also an '84 with different "wrong" knobs. . . https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Aria/ ... -Guitar.gc
I dont know the year on this one but it has the "correct" knobs. . . https://www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Aria/ ... -Guitar.gc
I'm guessing the last one is an earlier model due to knobs and inlay? http://www.matsumoku.org/cm_models/2021 ... ld-series/
I know knobs are easily lost/replaced but I've always seen those black knobs with the dot on the PE B&G models.
My RS600 has them and I sought out a pair of them for my other RS (left hand "The Cat" neck on a "Special V" body).

Nice looking guitars alright.

But I've often thought that for a series called "Black and Gold" there ain't a whole lot of "gold" to be seen.
:look:

I'm a little surprised they are priced that low. All these inbred hillbillies get their hands on an Uncle Matt and act like it is solid gold. I've seen much greedier prices.

There again you have to consider the seller. Their ineptitude knows no bounds. At one time they had three recent PE-350 Standards listed as an LS-600, PE-R100 and PE-R60 with prices to match. Kindof surprised they got these right. There's no telling what condition they really ARE in going by a few tiny pics and you know darn well they didn't go through them at all.

I have $545 in my PE-R60 and it is pristine and came with the OHSC. This is pretty much at the top of my $$$ threshold. If it's more than that the guy driving the Beemer and wearing Izods and a Rolex can have it. Not when a Jeep, Wranglers and Timex works just as well for me. Only my PRS SE ($574 with gig bag), Brian May ($799 with gig bag, gift from my Wife) and PE-Anniversary ($621 with HSC) cost more.

Having been as long as it has since the end of Matsumoku if only the knobs have been replaced that isn't too bad. I've found knobs on Amazon that are very close. What I hate is when it is sold as all original or in great condition only to open the cavity or pull the pickups to find a bunch of dumb****ery has taken place.

The PE-60 over it's lifetime had both split and non-split inlays but not sure which came first or last or if it was a regional thing (Japan, Canada, US etc.).

Except for my D'Angelico, my favorite guitars are ones that I spent less than 600 on. My X-99, Epi Firebird and two Entertainers.
I spent the most on a PE 1500 and I hate it. All were bought within the past 5 years.
