I wrote just LC in the headline as me n Oscar are still a little undecided on what this is..

Did a trade that made me end up with this. Altho a clownburst isn´t my cup of tea really it IS a good guitar. No two ways about it.

The OEM DiMarzios are sorry to say gone. As is an Air Norton and a Norton resides in there and they friggin need to go... PAF time..

ImageImage

Oscar told me that this is most likely a -79 vintage guitar. MG-55´s are certainly there in turn...

Image

´N yep..she certainly carries fretedge bindings. Fretboard in turn is the typical "ebony" we´ve become accustomed to see on the higher end Mats. Ie this "tigered" sort of charcoal black and coffee brown.. Very very tight lookin piece a wood in this case btw..

Image

And as usual with a Mat...really nice looking cuts. No scar marks or whatever..just a nicely made pup cavity.

ImageImage

Yep. That and this thick a*s good looking maple cap. No vener involved...

The seller was one of the boys at our local "trusted" forums and he guaranteed that the pups taken out of there at one time were OEM DiMarzios too (as the ones in there). Reason he replaced them was that he wanted more output back when.
I see no reason to distrust that seing how the rest of the axe is built, and has been maintained.

So. That kind of raises the Q....what is this? That we´re talking 800 n up is obvious i guess, but what more.?

Certainly WAY better, and surely sound better too. The thing is that the more involved i get..the more PAF and P90 it becomes. U guys tell me!

Why not a P90 in the neck and a Paf in the bridge?

Got a few axes so equipped. Nah..
Tbh i mainly use P90 guitars onstage atm. Like 6-9 past months or so. There´s something about their way to deliver the goods that gets to me. My TA-100 for instance has been in idle for a while.
Guess that could be said for a majority of us. That we favour certain guitars kind of cyclic.?

Nah. PAF´s will work just fine in this case. Picked her up just the other day and after taking care of the usual small bits n pieces she´s come around just fine as far as i´m concerned. Action is nothing short of lovely (it´s been taken care of by another member of the same forum mentioned above-a fret and board job that is).
It´s been minor details that i´ve sorted out really. Like the pups...the install of a set of treble bleeds...and the swap of the nuts for the tuning machines. These were the wrong type and i just happend to have a correct set laying around.
Then.raising the stop bar a bit so that the strings don´t rest on the rear of the bridge anymore..

Minor stuff in short and out the other end came a really good guitar. Front of it,as far as being a burst,i really like...flipside of it..not so much. But hey, that doesn´t detract from it being a really good guitar so...
This one´ll stay for a while.
