Been a while since I've had reason to post here, but I found this Sunday morning... She's in a bit of a state; filthy, missing a trem arm & backplate, dinged all to hell. But whaddya want for ten quid..?!

She'll go to my repair guy in the very near future, where she'll be dismantled, cleaned, shielded and rebuilt . I'm wondering if the vintage Floyd (no fine tuners) I've had in the parts box since 1997 will fit without any major mod's...

Heck of a deal! Well done.
Unless there's sumthin' bad about the original bridge I wouldn't mess with it. I don't know much (OK bugger all) about the Wildcat bridge but if they're as good as the Westone's, I'd leave it be.

I've seen the knobs alone go for $50 US. I'd call this a score. :rockwoot:

The RS is a solid guitar. I'd clean her up and leave her as is.
The ONLY thing I dislike about this particular model RS is the truss rod adjustment. I like the neck pickup hugging the neck.
Not enough to worry about though.

And here, finally, we have the 'after' pic's... I decided to go with the Floyd after all and it's fantastic.

There're still a couple of issues; the 5-way doesn't work in all positions and I hate the string bar. I'll probably go with a couple of Graphtech string trees next.

Fantastic job!!!!!! :goodjob:

I had it's bigger brother, the Knight Warrior. The feel of the neck was perfect.

The pickups aren't actually blade, but have a "blade" cover of the top of the pole pieces which distributes the magnetic field evenly although a bit diminished compared to exposed pole pieces. Still plenty hot though.

Very nice, I dig it. :rockwoot:
Do you still have the original knobs?

Looking good!! Yeah, the string bars are a PITA; I use the modern Fender roller trees on my projects - and even as a small upgrade - as they're cheap and look style-y!!

Does the FR make that much difference? And does it need a stringlock?

The FR is to the stock Strat trem as the Kahler Flyer is to the FR. Somewhere midway.

The two pivot points are much easier to manipulate than that horrid 6-woodscrew monstrosity.

Got them somewhere, one of them has suffered some damage at some point... I'll try and remember to dig them out and post pic's.

Couldn't say if it is an improvement, as I had it fitted by my repair guy when I first got it. Doesn't need a lock as it has no fine tuners. Same setup as Guthrie Govan's signature Charvel...
