Finally got signed back into this site!! Previous user name 'LanceT'.
Wanted to share the VW-195 I found a few days ago with what I believe to be the OHSC. It is overall in very good condition.
It seems Mats acoustics come up once in awhile and generally for such a good price, it is foolish to resist.
From what I gather this may have a solid top with laminate sides/back.

Hey Lance. Glad to have you back! This site has certainly gone through more than enough problems of late.
That's a beautiful guitar there.

I have the "Plain Jane" VW150 model which is as light as a feather. Good sounding guitar too. I assume yours is too.

I think they are the same build other than the colour, according to the Vantage catalogue info.

I have only had the guitar a few days and it has been sitting for quite some time prior. It badly needs a string change and a minor setup. Out of the gate, it has more pronounced bass and a mellower tone than the VA-22-C-B I have. I thought the construction and materials between the two were the same but maybe not.

I noticed the search function doesn't work but what else is happening? I am constantly researching things on this site so I hope it's not something terminal.

Yeah there are a whole lot of things broken on this site, not the least of which is the Search option. The site is barely functional now. As an alternative you can use Google's search site function.

Between losing a most of the membership, PhotoBucket changing its posting support policy, and all these technical issues, I'm afraid if Crusty doesn't get things fixed quickly, this once vibrant and remarkable site's a goner. It can't be accessed properly.

The Westone site was kept alive by the users, is there an opportunity here? It would be a tragic loss to lose this.

A little bit different situation there Lance.

John (Corsair) is the Westone Forum Admin and I'm the Tech guy (with small 'a' admin credentials).
The Forum is hosted by free hosting company and I look after the nuts n bolts. There wasn't too much danger of losing the forum content, just the domain name linked to it. But the website is a different matter.

We originally had a benefactor (Neil) who started it and hosted it for free. I took it over when the old westone.info site went out of business and I rebuilt it. Then Neil went out of business and I had to find a new host for the site, which cost money. That's when the members kicked to finance the move, hosting and domain fees.

The site here is run by "Crusty". It's his baby, lock, stock and barrel. Some folks have offered assistance but he prefers to work alone. Fair enough. There's nothing the membership can do unfortunately.

... that's a little too humble, mate! Lance, Barry basically keeps the thing running by tinkering under the hood and it was his drive that got us into our current position; I just sit around drooling...

Neal has made a few of us admins just to keep on top of things, but yeah; this is his baby and boy - am I ever grateful to have found it!! My first Matt guitar was - and still is! - a Vantage VA900, and this is the only place you can find out stuff about it!

Thanks for the updates. This site is of huge historical significance and along with the Westone site, my go-to source for all things Mats.

I would never have learned how respected the various Matsumoku brands were without it and certainly never have begun sourcing the guitars on Craigslist, etc. to the point now I am looking daily to see what I can find.

Like you Corsair, I still have my first Vantage, a VS696 I had bought new in 1984 and reacquired it though sheer luck almost 30 years after selling it.

Here's to the continued existence of this site and of the interest in Matsumoku!!

Lance.

Amen brother.

I was fortunate enough to be part of this site when it was a beehive of activity. There were lots of dedicated and knowledgeable folks here who helped me a lot, especially with my first purchase of a beautiful Vantage AV325. It was a wonderful world wide Matsumoku collegiate, and I'd dearly love to see that happen again.

This site desperately needs a major overhaul to stabilize it, plus something to rejuvenate old membership, and to recruit new members. You can't do that with a crippled site and shutting out currently registered members like yourself!
