Austria and Germany: the same language...everything else is different...

Well, although the European community doesn't have borders anymore, some German sellers do NOT ship to their neighbours! I've contacted the guy who sold this guitar and pointed to my 100% ebay feedback. The answer was NO! No exceptions!
Searching a strat-like Vantage since quite some time now (all my other electric guitars with the V on the headstock are equipped with MMK pickups) I badly wanted this guitar.

German boardmember syncwi offered his help. He bought this guitar for me, checked if everything is o.k. and sent her to my place!!!
Thanks again, Stefan

It's a 1982 VANTAGE Avenger 330:

Johann, which colour in the pictures closer to the actual colour?
I really like the darker wine red colour in the headstock shot, but the rest look a bit pink (camera flash?).

Those single coils should sound real nice!

Mine sound OK, but really fairly low output. His has the '82 phase switch, if I remember correctly-- flipping the middle p'up. Nice option.

Post up some action videos! I've recently used mine on a silly cover of the old Michael Jackson/Mick Jagger tune "State Of Shock".

The camera + the sunlight make her look pink on the pics. But it's a dark metallic red (matching the color of the headstock pic)
Here is another one (from the seller's auction)! Catches the colour better!

BTW: It's a AV330 with matching headstock, NOT a AV330MX with one piece maple neck (and golden hardware)!
Syncwi, who is owning a AV330MX , has compared both guitars and couldn't find much differences in sound an playability!

action videos? Some day I will document all my Vantages...someday... :D

It's snowing outside, so I took some pics in the living room to show the differences between the Avenger models AV 325 and AV 330 (beside the pickup configuration):

COLORS:
AV325: see through colors.
AV330: metalic lacquer

Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

SHAPE:
same Avenger shape, but the 330 is "flattened" at the "right arm position" like a *F* Strat:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

NUT/TRUSSROD/TUNERS:
plastic nut (AV330), brass nut (AV325)
trussrod: covered cavity on headstock (AV325), access at the body (AV330)
tuners: rounded (1982 AV330), more square (1983 AV 325)

BACK SIDES/STRINGTHROUGH:
AV330 with trem cavity, access to the electronics from the front side
AV325 electronics cavity, string ferrules

On the last pic you can see the differt shapes of the back side. Again the AV330 is more Strat-like!
Uncle Mat didn't go the easy way by offering the same guitar with different pickups only! Each model has had it's own concept!

I like the colour Johann.
I'm a huge fan of the Westone Spectrum series (got 4 of 'em!), and I always think of the Vantage Avengers as their cousins. They're similar in general feel and playability (got 3 of 'em!). The Spectrums also come in a variety of configurations. Never a dull moment! :D

I ain't no Strat-fan at all, but one's gotta have at least one. I think the Vantage Avenger AV330 looks much sexier than other Strat clones, and that neck ... that neck was Mat-made. Sleek, fast, a pleasure to play. Mine is black, but I like the deep red on yours very much, too. Good catch!
