I got a cheap Cat Series which was heavily mutilated by a Ibanez Pro Rocker Trem and Locking nut which I wanted to modify. This is how it looked originally when I got it :
Image
I wanted to have the horns look more like the horns on a Westone Pantera, so I started sanding. I also gave the lower side of the body a little shaping :

I opened the room for a 3 Humbucker combination:

I always wanted to have an aluminium pickguard, so I bought some and took out the saw. When I was finished, I found out, the I cut it out mirrored !!!! GRRRRR
Image
So I bought the next plate and started sawing again. This time I remembered the flamed Avenger I saw somewhere here on the forum. I needed that stuff, too !!!! :

Here are the holes for pups and trem :

Here it is with the pups installed, I took 2 MMK 45 which are splittable with the push pull tone pot for bridge and middle position and a Dimarzio Super Distortion for the neck position. I will put black blank pup-covers over the pups later on.

Now I needed to prepare the body for putting color onto it, 5 layers of spray-filler are enough to make it look even
Image
Now I don´t know which color to take. Seventies Metalflake Green ? Flip Flop Orange ? Matte Black ?
OK, I couldn´t help and put the neck onto the body and give it a try :

Wow, this thing rocks. And it is HEAVY. This must be by far the heaviest guitar I own. Having 3 Humbuckers is real fun, and putting the 5 way selector onto the position with middle and bridge pu and the split them both brings out a very strange sound.
When finished I also want to modify the headstock (no sense in stopping to modify now ;-) ) but I haven´t decided what to do yet. Of course it will also receive some aluminium application !
Usually I am happy with 100 % original Uncle Matts, but as this was already modified, I can do all modifications I can think of without remorse.

Any suggestions for color or other modifications ?

Oliver !

Fantastic! I love it!

GReat photo series too, keep em coming!

As far as color- I like Hemi Orange, or some other solid muscle car era tint. This thing feels more vintage to me now- red or black would make it more 80's, but I think you've got a cool 60's hot rod thing going....

Oooh! I know!!!!

Metalflake light yellow-green!!!!!! Like the color of anti freeze poured on a surf board!!!

And there you have a factory original Matt color- I bet there's a Toyota color that matches it exactly.

Oliver, that's just crazy, man!! Great job!! As for colour, what about a paisley pattern; that would be pretty retro, eh!! :D

Hey guys, thanks for the nice replies ;-)
I narrowed it down to some colors, one very close to the green color, that X189player suggested. I also took the idea of Hemi Orange in consideration and found a tone in this direction, only a little more modern - FlipFlop they call it. Here are pictures of it :

I also considered this two colors :

Ah, just too many options !

Hemi orange has a nice property of being reddish in shadows but more yellow-orange in direct light.

I like the 4th one; the darker of the greens, but I still lile the paisley idea!! :-?
Hey x, is that a Charger or a Challenger?

It's a Barracuda, a Plymouth. The Challenger was the Dodge equivalent, Charger was also Dodge. They used the same colors for both but had different names for the colors- I believe Hemi Orange was called Vitamin C. There was also Go-Mango, Tor-Red, Curious Yellow, and In-Violet.
