hi im a newbie my name is john...
i have an aria cardinal series. i have taken the frets out filled the slots. stripped the red stain off and rounded off the the pointy bits a bit.

and the latest thing was i put two piezo buzzers under the bridge , and put in a notch filter and pre amp. almost sound like an upright .
all wired to an extra jack .so i still have the factory pickup sound.( well defretted factory sound)

I have an RSB special neck that I removed the frets from but have not filled yet. Any advice? By the way I love the pickups on your cardinal, I have them on two basses and they are the best.

how are you finding the fretless . i didnt fill mine for years
i just used wood filler . they say slots of wood is the way to go, but i am scared of ruining the fingerboard.
i put masking tape on the edge of where the fret came out put in some filler let it dry then did another coat ,some fillers shrink . gave it a sand
i used a colour (yes that is how we spell it) that is slightly lighter then the rosewood . worked well ,from distance you cant see the lines but up close you know where you are. next step is to take out the dots, bit worried about that one...

just started drilling a hole in the center of the dots. plan was to drill hole then heat it up to soften the glue and work them out of finger board via the drilled hole. but i dont need to heat it at all. most of the glue is in the center . i went a bit deep in one hole ,ooops .
im thinking of getting some rosewood dowel to put in the holes and slicing it up. any other ideas???
i should have found out about what i can put in the holes before i started drilling but thats me ...like a bull at a gate
