Yes, find your filler first. :D The fretboard on my cheapie is very dark, almost black. Not sure what is is but I'll find something to match.

I'd love to have no diamonds on my R60. . . :-?

indeed. been searching for a few hours now. cant find any rosewood. and im thinking dowel will not do because of the grain will be a cross section rather then the way it goes on the board. might have to go with wood filler. but cant even find the right shade in that.
still would look better then the white dots on a naked board i guess.
has anyone got a better idea. feeling like i may have made a big mistake.... :banghead:

Have you considered using thin veneer? I couldn't say for sure but a cabinet maker or wood supply might have a veneer close enough in color.

I can't remember where but I've seen pics online of someone scraping/sanding a piece of like colored wood and mixing with glue to fill the holes left by the dots. Possibly you could scrape a few different woods for more colorful fretboards.

Thanks for the info on filling the frets.

I used the glue and sanded wood method on a damaged fret board. I used tightbond glue and a scrap of rosewood. It is a bit lighter than the rest of the fretboard but has held up well.

Veneer is very thin peices of wood. Cabnet makers use it and rosewood is a pupular veneer. You should be able to find it. It may be tricky to cut a clean dot from it.

i found some rose wood . got a builder to do some thin slices and i sanded them into circles . its a bit lighter on my neck too. but i guess new rosewood compared to sweet and finger grease for the last 25 years has to do something. i evened out the lightness with a some wood stain on a little paint brush. worked good. you may want to try that rsbbass.
wish i could take picks
