No pics means it didn't happen. :D

I'm dying of anticipation here. :hyper:

Yeah, yeah!!

Mate, if you have a look at others I've done, you'll see I REALLY take my time, eh, so don't be expecting fast progress! :D

It's the heat in Oz, you see.
John's very warm and has no need to move quickly in order to get the blood circulating.

That's just about the size of it!! :D

You know, I've got to sort out the re-chroming of the bridge and saddles, decide on the grade of fretwire I want and re-fret the neck, see what's involved with veneering the compound curves on the front and actually acquire some veneer should I decide to swing that way, organise the purchase of the various bits and bobs that I want - tuners etc. and what do you think I've done recently?!

Absolutely nothing!! :hyper:

In my defence, however, I will point out that it still school hols over here and I've got 3 at home making my life ....interesting, and that croquet takes up a bit of my time these days, too, not only because I play the game but because I got conned into being the club captain!

So there you go; they're my excuses, and I'm sticking to them!! :D

Thanks for that, Barry; we had a Lewis Carroll themed thing a year or two ago but no-one was game to use the same hallucinogenics that he did!!

Progress is slow, but steady... the bridge is an orphan, and diecast so re-plating isn't an option so a new Gotoh GTC will be the go there, and I have been annoying the local joiners by asking loads of dumb questions; the upshot of all that was that the scalloped cutaways at the waist preclude veneering over them in one piece so they may have to remain un-veneered and just be painted in the burst colour, likely to be a dark pearl purple.

The locking tuners have been ordered along with all of the other little bits and bobs, except the fretwire; I haven't decided what gauge to go with, but probably medium jumbo.

Now, though, I have to find me some veneer that I like the look of at less than a kings' ransom: wish me luck!!

However, it is Australia Day tomorrow as well as club day, so I have to plan some "fun" events for the club members - oh, joy!

Bloody hell.... check this out!! :o

I just love everything about this bridge. My Avenger, however, cost less than half of what it would cost to land that fabulous thing here....

We tend to think that the Japanese are good engineers, but this.... well, this is a thing of beauty!!

Still no luck with the veneer, either; starting to wonder if I shouldn't start looking at other options....

Locking tuners have arrived; Jinho from Korea. They seem very good, I have to say especially for the price - firm and smooth action, and the Kluson string trees have turned up as well. Still waiting on the jack socket cup...

All the rain we've had over the last week - + 7 days at about 82% humidity and +33°C heat - have made the perfectly smooth and flat body fur up ever so slightly!! *sigh*

Geez, that bridge is slick eh? Beautiful and no doubt very comfy to "lean" on.
Even on a major reno and cost aside though, I don't think it would suit the Avenger too well. Just not the right vibe for me.

See how I eased your pocket book worries there?

I like the smooth face on those saddles. I've had a few guitars with strat type saddles. You know, the ones with the height screws that chew the c r a p out of your palm. I always replace them with GraphTech or genuine Strat Plus saddles. A noticeable difference.

Yep; completely wrong... but.....

I showed Lucy who commented favourably and didn't even shriek in anguish when I told her the price but nah; A$200 gets me nearly 3 new cases for guitars that don't have them.

I think I may get one of these...

...as I put a black one on the Bougainville Avenger an it is fine! The baseplate is actually steel with diecast saddles, but as you say, Neal, the saddles get replaced pretty darn quickly!!

Or a Gotoh GTC....
