It is common on violin family instruments to leave the back of the neck unfinished. My upright bass has an neck back that is unfinished. Almost six years on now I have had no issues. I take lessons on a bass that is over 100 years old and once again no issues. Just remember to give a quick wipe down when you are done playing (not that I always remember to).

And the finishing touch. I made a couple of extra TRCs from 2mm acrylic in case things went pear shaped, but they didn't - this engraver knows his stuff and I had the Corsair Avenger TRC re-done as well.

Still a great sounding guitar and easy to play; not in the shredding sense as the neck profile is not really a shredder but for chunky chord work it is fabulous!
