Well wietse, it's tough to play convincing Death Metal on a wood grain guitar. The part I have never understood is why people that don't have the guitar to match their musical style insist on trying to modify their existing guitar to fit the part rather than just selling it and buying what they want. Years ago a bandmate of mine had a cool old Vox but he wanted a Fender. Rather than trade guitars he took a hacksaw to the headstock of the Vox to "Fenderize" it. Not only did he ruin a perfectly good Vox, the guitar still didn't look like a Fender. Gotta love the "do it yourselfer". It's our job to undo their ignorance. Again, congratulations on your very successful project. SB
I can ditto that! I can't count how many I have serviced that were modded to emulate something else, modifications that could not be undone.
Any more I will refuse to make permanent mods to a quality guitar if they are not warranted. Off the shelf current offerings is one thing, but guitars like the ones we appreciate it is out of the question. I'd rather turn down the work and skip supper. I stop at the point of permanent, anything before is a possibility.
Nice job of restoring that Vantage's former glory! Sometimes I think some guitars do have a kind of soul, and are grateful by becoming favorites when someone comes along and gives them a second lease on life.
