you should . feels and sounds gooooood . i have two . the basses dont have many on board tone options ,but what it has is a good tone. and you can get lots of variation if you play with your amp.

Thanks for the kind comments and encouragement.

As for the refin job, all I can say is, it has given me a greater appreciation for the folks out there who can do it, and do it well. It looks pretty good at arms length, and I managed to get rid of the orange peel. Can still see a few small nicks up close ( I could have sworn I had filled them all.........)

This was a classic case of trying to do a professional job in less than optimal circumstances ( re-ranch spray cans in a garage. In the summer. In Kansas)

BTW- I haven't totally abandoned the idea of a Holstein themed guitar - I have my eye on my old Harmony H75 who's finish has seen better days..

Cheers.

Yes. KANSAS. It was easier that way, since that's where I live.

Guess I could have gone someplace cooler and less humid like, uh, Houston?

It's no better in the great state of Misery (MO). When Kansas is done with a storm they just send it our way. Their humidity yesterday is ours today. Now how's that for recycling!

Gribb, I built a small spray booth just large enough for a guitar so I could paint indoors. I used a brushless fan and dryer vent to pull the fumes outside and it even has built in heat and a method of rotating the piece as it is sprayed and while it cures over the heaters. If you want pics I can send them to you.

Not entirely off subject but something has been bothering me since I posted the Kansas comment. I believe I can attribute the loss of my black PE-R80 to a series of events that started while dating a girl in Kansas. :-?

Thanks for the offer,Crusty, I would be interested in seeing those plans, although it may be awhile before I tackle another project, but who knows?

Here's the odd thing - I work at a place that has a fully functioning wood shop, including a really nice controlled enviornment spray booth. I think the next time I try something like this,I will take advantage of my situation. :-?

Jorg - no offense taken. If I think about it hard enough, I can probably attribute the loss of some fine guitars to Kansas girls as well

A little red Mustang that at the time was merely "used" and is now "vintage" comes to mind. Don't miss the girl so much, but have you seen what '66 Mustangs are fetching these days ? :D
