Ahh, she's starting to shine now Pierre! What a beauty under all that crud!
I see the serial number is still visible, I'm curious, how did you refinish the back of the headstock without removing it?

Thanks Barry..

The serials are burned into the headstock so when only removing the finish, they stay .... One would need to sand them out to get rid of them...

During lunch I stopped at a Train hobby shop and behold... Water decal paper... a package of 4 sheets 8 X 11 cost me $10... Will be able to try my hand at printing logos... Scaled train hobbyist make theyre own logos for the trains.... little hint for you all out there...

Of course. (duh) Fortunate for you, n'est-ce pas? :D

Train hobby shop? Interesting.
I dropped into one of those last year when I was trying to find small screws for some cover plates. Good to hear they are a potential source for decal papers. Sooner or later I think we'll all need these!

I buy all my TRC screws, gold wood screw for pickguards at those stores... They have all the small sizes and the prices are reasonable

Working very slowly and a little bit at a time not to get in to much trouble...

I started reshaping the headstock and a little more sanding to do on the front before applying the new veneer. The body is almost done to my liking... will go over once more to make certain that bloody color is all gone... :mad2:

Hit a small snag... The top strap holder screw was completly stripped... Tried every trick in the book to unscrew without breaking the screw and ...Broked it... :x Will have to bore out the screw with a little trick that I read in the Guitar Repair Guide and then fill with a hard wood dowel... Just a hassle to add this little inconvenient...

Here are some new pics of the progress:

The headstock was done rough... still need to get artistic and get it just right...

Nuts! If it makes you feel any better, I broke the head off the small brass screw I was using to attach a new TRC on my Urchin project! :mad2:
Torqued that sucker right off, and now I have to try and remove a #4 piece of brass without making any more mess than there already is! Too small to extract, so I have to drill it out, refill..etc.... (sigh)

And thanks for the hint about the train hobby shops- had been striking out locally , and wasn't too excited about having to order 50 sheets of the stuff!

My pleasure... I was very happy to find them myself... Hate ordering online and getting shipping charges... The owner explained that I would need to spray some acrylic on it after printing, exactly the way Graham explained it...Will be trying it out this weekend.
