Dug up a NOS set of Mini-Grovers, they fit perfectly right out of the box. Nice!

Found a brand new toggle switch, string trees & output jack as well (to go with the new tuners, strap locks & dome knobs I'd already found in my stock o' stuff). Strung it up with some loose strings I had kickin' around (still the old brass bridge) and so far, so good.

Punch list, no particular order:

Buy loose B & E strings, install & test (check new nut height, string tree height, neck relief, needed bridge saddle height).

Order new bridge (black).

Clean plastics - truss rod cover, component cover, pickups, trim rings.

Clean pickup polepieces.

Trim truss rod cover to fit with new nut.

Test both p'ups, all pots & switches.

Replace output jack with new.

Wire up everything.

New strings & set up.

Make demo video for mats.org crew.

Um, you want a video of it with one pickup mis-wired, and only 4 strings & no ground? OK, then...I'l get right on that.

Just for you...

I did put two more strings on it, but I left the gnarly hum & all- just like you wanted it.

I'll tell you what, through the hum, there's a really meaty tone in there; nice work!

Thanks- did you recognize the tune, or is it a US-only thing? The meaty tone is probably a combination of my tendency to palm mute + the Pearce & Marshall = always beefy. It won't take long to test the p'ups & hook 'em up correctly, it'll actually probably take longer to clean them properly. What you're hearing is the bridge MMK45 (known good) in humbucker mode connected straight to the output jack.

I've been meaning to check which coil shuts off on the single 'bucker Avengers, I might try other variations with this one.
