Who's got some of these that are surplus to requirements? I'm looking to convert a Westone Spectrum - or an Avenger - into a Tele....

All you had to do was call :)
Have a brand new set sitting here doing nothing.

I just love a happy ending. *sniff* :freaksmile2:

You mad impetuous fool you. Are you going to go all the way and route the bridge pup at an angle too? And let's not forget that metal bridge plate, the one with the edge on it, none of this flat stuff please. That's where a lot of the mojo originates eh?

Should be interesting John.

Dunno about interesting, but a little different, eh!!

Nope; no metal bridge plate at this stage and you can just buy conversion kits for humbucker holes so not even any new holes in the old girl!!

I have to say that those P90s are the business; very, very nice pickups indeed though compared to that PE-150 of Don's, they are a little down on sheer grunt!

From what I understand the "true" Tele bridge twang is a result of both the plate on the bottom of the pickup AND its being surrounded by that plate, with the edges. (And the ashtray cover if ya wanna get real technical in a Leo sorta way)

An electro-mechanical voodoo magic happens when the stars align just right. Any other combo just doesn't quite get there. But the flat metal plate should kick up the treble a notch. It'll be interesting to see what difference you get.

Yes, I realise that the metal plate that the bridge pickup sits in must have an effect of some sort, but I'm going to try it without first. And that plate is connected to the pickup base plate by the mounting screws so there's something of a direct connection, eh!!

It's a long term thing because getting the rings and mounting plates sent from the US generally takes a while because Australia Post are morons.

I've essentially got one at the moment; Westone Spectrum ST with Kent Armstrong P90s which is very nice indeed, and I've got an Avenger on the go currently which will also have P90s, so the Telecaster thing is me shagging about with what I've got already; I don't actually have a 2 x s/c guitar and haven't had one for decades...
