Hi everybody,

I just got my first Matsumoku guitar. :D An Aria pro II TS-350. I think I first saw this guitar at a Mission UK concert in the last 80's when I was a kid. I love it it. It is in really good condition except the high e saddle was changed. Someone drilled in the bridge and added a fender saddle and shim to raise it. I am looking for an original one to replace it. I do not think there is any off the shelf replacement.

Here is a pic of the saddle: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91576397@N02/8315429893/in/photostream/lightbox/

and the guitar: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91576397@N02/8315430977/in/photostream/lightbox/

Thanks,
Dave

Welcome. And you are correct, there are no off the shelf replacements.
We've talked a bit about fabricating replacements but so far, its proven to be cost prohibitive.
From your description, the shim is under the saddle. Typically, I've seen people replace all of the saddles with strat type and shim the bridge.
How was it drilled? Can you post pics of the bridge?

Hi Jorg,

You are right the shim is under the saddle. I took a picture from both sides so you can see the shim and the drill hole from the rear:

That is exactly what I expected to see. You'd think they'd at least use an offset saddle rather than drill a hole.
Oh well, at least it works.
To make it look nice, you could replace all the saddles (observing the offset  ) and shim the bridge.
Keep your eyes open, these saddles turn up occasionally on ebay or similar. Also, a "donor" guitar could turn up. I bought one for my CS350 and will end up rebuilding it with aftermarket parts soon.

I was wondering the same thing about why they didn't use an offset saddle :-? Well is was looking at some string saver saddles and it looks like they should fit width-wise. The TS-350 measures 2 1/16 from E to E. The width of one saddle is closer to 12/32". the string savers say 13/32" but the same overall E - E here is the string saver specs:

Measurements Thickness Length Height E to E
Approx. In. 13/32" 17/32" 7/32" 2 1/16"
Inches 0.41 0.524 0.23 2.076

And i can grab a set off e-bay for about 30 bucks.

are you still looking for the saddle for your Aria Pro II?
i might be able to help out...
you can have first crack at them, since you started this thread and you asked for them...
but if there is no response or interest, then they will be available to anybody else who may be looking for these items.
send me a PM if you are interested

i just finished removing all the parts i needed from a donor guitar (Aria Pro II, RS series), so i have some parts available. here's what's left of the bridge,
Image Image Image Image
what i have here is:
baseplate and screws
3 good saddles with screws and springs
1 broken saddle with screw and spring- includes the 2 tiny height adjuster screws
2 pieces of saddle with original screws and springs

I wanted it but did not need it so could not justify the 4-500$ for it. :(
