Is anybody aware of any troubles with new people trying to register on this board? Particularly with the new board software. I've recently heard from somebody trying to register here "for months" now without any luck. With a gmail address and I think maybe a yahoo address. Not sure of exactly the last time he tried, though.

In August I was contacted by someone who was having the same trouble. In his case it was the Capcha image that was the problem. As far as I know that was fixed, but this sounds like another issue.

In an attempt to stop the SPAMMERS it looks like other barriers to legitimate registrants have been accidentally introduced. That might explain why things are so quiet here lately.

Um... yeah. I did a little more research on the subject after my last post, and I see under members, there seem to be many registrations as recently as November 13. Most are, however, listed as "Prospective Member". And I certainly understand the probationary period given that many new members have questionable website URLs associated with the account.

But I also found out the person I was attempting to help had already registered here but had forgotten his password. Any chance you could send him his password (or reset it) to the email address he registered with?

That will have to be done by the Admin or a Mod Alex.

I am but a humble guitar player here. :loon:

Nope; I'm pretty sure I can't retrieve his password; best idea would be to re-register under a new email addy and take it from there...

John, all he need do is click on the "I forgot my password" link on the login page Image A new PW will be sent to his email address. That way he does not lose connection with his current id and posts.

Yeah, I think I saw that, too. Maybe he doesn't have access to his original email account. In which case my original request would be useless, too. :eek2:

Oh well... I think he registered under a different name and email address, so all is good.

Much appreciated, gents.
