Here are 2 suggestions that haven't been mentioned:

(1) Buy a bigger house.

(2) If you live in a stand-alone house, build a mother-in-law cottage behind your house & turn it into a studio with a little cot in the corner.

Did just that 4 years ago. Moved from a storey and a half 1000 sq.ft into a 2200 sq.ft. 2 storey with double the yard size. That's the only reason I have both a basement office and a music room for the first time in my life. Still not enough room for flippin' cases! :scream:

Close. We just put in a 10'x10' pine shed in the back yard...then promptly filled it up with the junk that was cluttering up the garage! (sigh)

So now you should have space for the cases in your garage.

space is a serious issue in Japan. I'm using metal racks to store the guitars (in their cases)... and since the room does not have enough "wall", I added some metal racks with casters, that can be moved to access the guitars behind.

Hey Wutz,

Would you mind posting pictures of those racks? You got me really intrigued and interested in your idea!...

All very true and as an extra, if you think that the OEM hard cases are bad, try flight cases; they're a true pain in the arse to cart around! (Which is why we have roadies, of course!! It's not advancing age, and a decrepit body; oh no...) The pay off with flight cases, though, is that they are darn near indestructable for all intents and purposes, and anyone who's gigged on tour with a favourite guitar knows the conniptions involved when your gear travels in a different vehicle.... :)

However, don't store your guitars long-term in a flight case- foam linings deteriorate, and can ruin the finish of your guitar. Don't ask how I know. :(

They 'sort-of' look like the luggage racks you get at hotels to cart your bags around on, eh!! Great idea...

Very nice Wutz.
They're certainly a hell of a lot neater than the mess I'm dealing with currently.
All the cases lean up against everything else--two deep! If you move the wrong one...yikes!! And the wall is getting scuffed as well.
Something like this just might make the wife "happy" (sort of, kind of). :lmfao:
