No offense intended Barry but, what's the use of increased dimensions when you diminish photo's by adding a white vignette? One can argue it is a matter of taste but I sort of agree with Dom here, where's the logic behind it? :

without the "white vignette" the allotted size is too small, just look at the majority of the avatars in use here...they're pitiful. Your avatar happens to be square so it works. Most guitars that I've experienced are rectangular, and therein lies the problem.
"The logic behind it"? I use this effect here simply because it somewhat conveys a "vintage" feel which is what we're talking about here in these forums. I happen to like the effect and "Dom" the image Nazi can suck eggs. And by all means, avoid the WestoneGuitars.net site, it uses the white vignette as a design element for the reason mentioned above.
