Hi everyone. My name is Carl and I am an alcoho....nowait. That's not it.

I'm a guitar and bass builder living in Finland with my family. I've built about seventeen instruments (to date) and modified a countless number since I was 14 (a LONG time ago). I've a good electronics knowledge, having built effects boxes from scrap as a teenager and studied electronics at A level. For my sins I've worked on various environmental projects including the Stratford Olympic site, etc.

I'm a genuine rocket scientist and firmly believe that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it. I am perhaps a little lacking in the doing side, thanks to finances and limited resources at the moment, but I'll take over the world Pinky and The Brain style sometime soon. :D

As long as people can stand my incessant rantings, musings and rocket scientist-ry I think that also. :-D

Glad you made it over here. I am AKA Workingman at the Project Guitar Forum. What do you have in the way of Mats? Pictures will always make you friends here.

At the moment, nothing I'm afraid. My specific point of interest is research into the SB basses as I'm planning on making one this year - most likely a Black n Gold. The local kansalaisopisto ("civil college") are running a woodworking and metalworking course this summer, so I will be replicating the bridge whilst I'm at it. I tend to think into things WAY too much, so in addition I will play a little with brewing pickup and preamp configurations. I doubt the bass will end up being a true SB in anything other than the wider look, but it will definitely wear its heart on its sleeve. I like unlocking these little challenges. :D

As a further development from this, I may make a small project run of retrofit replica bridges if there is enough call for them. Many of the originals have pretty much petrified by now.
