Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone can help my son and I, He is 14 and passionate about guitars :)
He currently owns 2 electric (which he saved and bought himself) and an acoustic that was gifted to him :)

He's been hankering after a semi hollow, And today we purchased an Aria Pro 2 TA-40.

He's been looking for info on it all night in particular when it was made. The chap we bought it from has owned it from 1994.

So we were wondering if any of you could help :D

Here are some photos

Welcome. That would be a Korean Samick build if I'm not mistaken.

The seller must have bought this guitar "new" in 1994.
I'm no expert in reading korean serial numbers, but it looks like a 1993 to me. :o
(Aria has moved the production from Japan to Korea in the second half of the eighties)

This site specializes in guitars made at the Matsumoku factory in Japan. I have heard good things about the Samik built ones like yours. What is it you would like to know?

I have a '96(?) Aria Pro II TA60 which is a great player. I love the thin 60's style neck and the general feel of the guitar. Very comfortable. Here's my thread if you're interested in comparing:

Even though the original pickups sounded good, I replaced them with P90's which I prefer:

I think the main difference between yours and mine would be the gold hardware. Dating is difficult to decipher on these guitars and made more confusing when there are two different serial numbers on the neck plate and headstock.
