Hi. Good morning.
I just got an Aria Pro ll PE120, and the seller says that only 120 were made.
Is this true?
I'll post photos later.
Thank you for your feedback.

The PE-120 was a production model (non-prototype) in a series from the PE-110 to PE-160, so it is likely that more than 120 might have been built. I have a feeling that the seller might have mistaken  the model number for the quantity.

I'm sorry. My mistake. I didn't mean the 1977 PE120 with the tree of life inlays, but the Limited Custom Edition PE120 than came out in 1982 I believe. Thank you for your answer anyway.

Pics would help considerably. I'm not aware of any PE-120 from 1982.

I wish I had a dime for every claim a seller has made to hawk their wares. Only 120 made would be odd for Matsumoku. Post Matt possibly.

My thoughts also.

I nearly jumped on an ad for an ARIA "Mosrite" in pristine condition with case (always wanted a Mossy, even the original ARIA clone). A closer inspection of the photos revealed the "made in Ch..." decal/sticker - deal breaker for me. Apparently, ARIA is/was re-issuing some of their old copies.

They are still offering the Mosrite copies.

Univox also had a copy in the 70s.

Do you have any larger pics? Seems those are only 150x150. It's hard to tell with the small pics but it looks close to a PE-Deluxe-KV. The nomenclature on the front and back of the headstock might help as well as the neck joint.

Update.

Found that exact guitar on Reverb. Same serial. Looks like it came from Russia. Some models were only available in certain markets such as Europe or Japan. As far as only 120 made I'm not quite sold on that. It is essentially a cross between an PE-Deluxe-KV a PE-Supra. Construction and finish of a Deluxe with Supra fret marker inlays. The serial would indicate 82 but if it is post Matsumoku Japanese made the serial may not apply. Looks like the truss cover is not stock, and if it is that probably makes it post Matsumoku.

Whatever it is I'm sure it is going to be a keeper. Seems about a fair price for a Japanese PE. Fortunately I kept my PE-R80s and now they go for well over a grand. Paid under $400 for them. One back in 84, the other 20 years ago.

Ohhh. It's a Matsumoku made alright in 1982. I've seen information on that model and even a catalog, but can't remember where. I'll try to find it and send the info if i find it again.
It said that it was basically a PE-R100 but with different inlays and no coil split switches.
I'll post better photos next time.

I came up empty handed in searches. Found info on the R100. I don't ever recall seeing an R100 available new in the US but it is possible. I found quite a few R100s on eBay, all from Japan, none from elsewhere. The price tags on all of them are :-? :toopid:
