I found this on youtube. Has good info, but won't answer my original question if only 120 of this guitars were made.

It's a nice guitar for sure. I found 4 Reverb/eBay ended listings for this model guitar (using Google image search). Whether there was only 120 made may be hard to nail down. If there were only 120 they must come up pretty often. That's a lot of tooling changes for such a small run so the sticker price must have reflected this.

In any case it is a PE so it stands out from the crowd for that reason alone.

You are right Crusty.
I played it already and its stands on its own against my other PE's. It is a great guitar.
I'll put a wrap on this topic, because we might never find a correct answer to my question.
Thank you so much for your feedback. Always appreciate.

If it plays and sounds how you want a a guitar to play and sound that is all that matters. It all boils down to whether it plays and sounds like what you want.

That's exactly what I tell my customers every time I sell a guitar. Don't mind the brand, as long as it plays and sounds good to you. That is all that matters.

Whatever he thinks.

As mentioned before in this thread, the PE-120 was a regular production model. A "Limited" on the truss rod cover doesn't mean a thing. Mine was made in 1984 btw.

The PE-200 was only made to order... but not limited.

If you want to have a limited PE model, you might need to look at the Neal Schon and Kazumi Watanabe artist models.

Whatever who thinks?
I just made an honest question about only 120 made.
For what I have searched, the PE120 Custom Limited, was only made in 1982.
If yours is a 1984, it's not a PE120 Custom Limited. If it is, that opens a full amount of questions for that model. I would love to see photos of yours.
There's many different models of the Custom Neal Schon's edition. What other Custom Limited edition models do you know are out there? I would like to know and learn more of all the hidden history of the great legendary Matsumoku factory, and many of the people in this blog would be thankful to know as well.

I recommend Japan Vintage Vol.5 (ISBN4-401-61885-8)... there's a picture of the PE-120 dealer pamphlet from 1983.

This is mine (serial from 1984):

The Kahler and the pickups on the guitar in your pictures are most likely not stock.

Thank you.
I tried to google your suggestion, but no luck. Could you send a link so I can read it please?
I guess you just answered my original question. Thank you.
Right, the Kahler is not the 2220 original, and I don't have the " Limited" truss rod cover and I may never find one.
I took out the pickups, and they're MMK75's alright , but not covered. I have a pair of MMK75's covered and in gold somewhere, but I think this guitar looks great with the zebras.
Anyway, I've been playing it, and it does have a nice tone although different of my R80's and it stands on its own as a great guitar to play. I enjoy it.
Thank you so much for all your feedback.
