I came across this Vantage AV 325 Avenger today in a Trans white finish! Never seen one like this before, never even knew they made them. But I'm gassing like crazy :hyper:

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1646104105
$300 w/ non original rectangular HSC

I love the Avenger line and I have a gorgeous trans red 325 and trans blue 325 which isn't quite as spectacular looking but still a great player. So now I'm fantasizing about having a patriotic cluster of red, white and blue!

The only problem is that the guitar is located 2-1/2 hrs away and I have to drive around the bottom end of Lake Ontario to get there!

I contacted the seller to see if I can work out something in the way of meeting half way in Toronto or something. The seller is female so I don't know how that would go down. I suggested meeting at a public place like a Tim Hortons (a Canadian coffee shop chain) to make her feel more comfortable so we'll see how that goes.

The only flaw with the guitar is a small paint chip in the lower bout (no big deal) BUT it has one of those $%&*(@ barrel saddle bridges!! :evilrazz:

I have 3 Mats guitars which had these terribly designed bridges and I've replaced them all (BTW Tom Presley agreed with my assessment of these) If I get it that will be the first thing replaced.

Good luck! Agreed about the barrel saddles, palm biters for sure.

That's the least concern.
The main issue with these things is that they not only torture the strings by bending them in a weird and wonderful way in order to ride in the saddle notch, but the overall width is too big resulting in the high or low E string tracking at an angle up the neck and missing the pickup pole on the neck pup.

On my '81 Thunder the treble E was so close to the edge of fret board that it fell completely off if it was played too hard!! That seemed to have happened particularly on the 1981 builds.

And the same thing was seen on my AV-310 here:
http://www.matsumoku.org/ggboard/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5577&start=40#p33179

Some of the bridges were actually set at angle at the factory to try and compensate! They were quickly replaced with a more standard and correct width design in subsequent builds.

Dang, that looks pretty nice. I've never seen that finish either. :-?

Now I have to not make it obvious to the wife that I have bought another guitar i.e., sneek it in when she's taking the dogs for walkies! :freaksmile2:

p.s. Jorg, gotta admire your pluck and consistent devotion to skulduggery

Help me help YOU. Send it to me when you get it and I'll send it back to you. Tell the wife its a gift from a friend. :devil2:

Cheers for that.
My problem is that I can collect 'em, but I can't seem to let 'em go! :loon:
