Better than deleting a post or thread by accident instead. I have no idea who could do such a thing. Really I don't. :dunno: :toopidlol:   :-? :bawl:

Barry, I'm so sorry man. I EDITED your post instead of QUOTED it.

Ah poop, but no worries Chris.
Bin dere, dun dat my bad self. An easy mistake to make.

For those who have no idea what's going on, the original post was a more detailed account of things, but I will attempt to reiterate in point form:
  • I bought it!! :D
  • paid small deposit only, won't pay balance and collect for another 2 weeks
  • seller has family in my city and will bring the guitar to me on her visit, so no long drive!! :hyper:
  • so far, I've have ordered a replacement (black) bridge and flat chrome humbucker mounting rings
  • still thinking about clear speed knobs, and a strap :dunno:
The vision for the overall look of the "remake" will be the same but (I think) a little bit more "classy"??
I don't want to overpower the subtle trans finish which seems to be aging nicely into a slightly yellowish tint rather than being blindingly "snow white" like my Spectrum S's urethane finish.

The black bridge echoes the pickup colour and doesn't stand out as a dirty lump of brass (and of course--it works!), and the chrome rings should compliment the chrome machine heads and tie neck and body together nicely.

The original Mats speed knobs are a terrific design and well built and I hesitate to change them, but if I do, it would be for a set of transparent ones which won't compete with the finish. So far though, the ones I'm seeing aren't as well made as the originals.

Have nothing specific for a strap yet, but it won't be black. :toopid:

As promised the seller has removed the ad so that's a good sign. And while I drum my arthritic fingers and patiently wait to pick it up, here are some enhanced versions of the seller's original ad pictures which were a little bit dark and indistinct.

You can make out the grain a little better on these. Ignore the white 'sparkles' they're artifacts generated from increasing the contrast. :
